It Takes Time

yoyo,
I have been attending the Yoyo Club regularly, and I have been learning some new stuff. This semester is almost over, meaning that I don't have that much more time to improve. I think that learning new tricks will take time, so I am just going to improve the ones that I already know, and become more comfortable with them.

I had no idea how I would progress in this project. I thought yoyoing would be way easier than it was. It was a challenge for me, but it was still enjoyable. Frustration was a huge factor during this project. I would get frustrated when my binds wouldn't work, or when my yoyo would spin out and I couldn't bring it back. It was also frustrating when even a short simple trick was difficult to learn. I chose yoyoing for my passion project because I thought it would be fun, entertaining, simple, and enjoyable, and also something I would like to keep doing after this semester. It was all of those things, but with every new thing comes many challenges. Becoming part of the yoyo world was a whole new experience; meeting new people, being amazed at the talent they have, and learning all about it. This project definitely shocked me.

When I started this project, I learned everything from youtube tutorials, I couldn't do anything without them. Now that I have been yoyoing for a while, I am able to just freely spin the yoyo and try new things. I am not that great at it yet, but I can see improvement. I enjoy being able to do this, I can just grab my yoyo and start going, instead of having to search a new video to learn and following along.

One of my goals for the month of May was to be able to do the Breakaway throw easily. I can now say that I can do that. I have been working on that for a very long time, and with much practice and frustration, I can do it now. It feels good to be able to do that now because so many tricks are based off of that throw. At Yoyo Club, I was asking about this throw, and one guy said that once I learn it, a lot of tricks will come much easier.

All in all, I did hope that I would be farther than I am at this point, but seeing how difficult yoyoing actually is, I didn't do too bad. As these last couple weeks will come fast, I hope to keep attending Yoyo Club, and become even more comfortable with my yoyo.
